Deep Breathing Was Part of the Condensate Collection Protocol

Participants used a five-minute deep-breathing maneuver during condensate collection. That controlled sampling procedure should not be assumed equivalent to a brief ordinary exhalation into another device.

The method was designed to increase aerosol production

The collection system condensed exhaled material with a chilled collar. A fresh collar was used for each sample, and participants received a standard instruction script. The report described deep breathing as a way to increase aerosol production. Samples were then stored frozen and processed for cannabinoid analysis.

Breathing instructions affect the collected material

Duration and breathing pattern form part of the method, alongside the collection surface and temperature. A different protocol may recover a different amount or composition. This does not establish a universal correction between breathing patterns, and the experiment did not independently quantify every participant’s aerosol generation.

Match methods before comparing results

The study’s cannabinoid findings belong to this condensate protocol. They should not become proof that a passive or much shorter collection has the same sensitivity. Nor does the ability to supply a sample establish normal driving function. The small proof-of-concept cohort supports analytical feasibility while leaving diagnostic accuracy and individual impairment interpretation unresolved.
