CBD Capsules and the Cannabis Challenge Were Separate Preparations
The oral pretreatment used highly purified CBD capsules with no detectable THC reported, followed later by a THC-containing cannabis challenge. The adverse outcomes should not be attributed automatically to hidden THC in the CBD capsules.
The study described both products
Each CBD capsule contained 200 mg CBD refined to greater than 99.9% purity, with no detectable THC, delta-8 THC or CBN reported. The 1,000 mg pretreatment was given with food. The later inhalation used specified cannabis flower products containing substantial THC and little CBD.
Separate product content from an interaction mechanism
The protocol deliberately exposed participants to THC after CBD or placebo. The resulting comparison is about that sequence. It is not evidence that the CBD capsule itself delivered the cannabis challenge dose. “No detectable” remains a method-bounded statement rather than proof of absolute chemical zero, and the supplied description does not certify unrelated commercial products.
The finding is regimen-specific
The trial did not demonstrate protection from the measured cannabis effects. It also cannot isolate every contribution of formulation, food, antipsychotic treatment or administration route. A claim about CBD-rich flower or a coformulated edible needs evidence for that product and sequence, rather than assuming equivalence to purified oral pretreatment followed by vaporized cannabis.
