CBD’s Cardiovascular Effects Changed With the Rat Preparation

CBD produced different cardiovascular findings in conscious, anesthetized and experimentally pithed rats. Results from those preparations should not be combined into a single claim that CBD reliably lowers blood pressure in people.

The study separated central and peripheral mechanisms

Researchers compared hypertensive and normotensive rat strains across several preparations. Conscious animals retained normal behavioral and neural regulation. Anesthetized and pithed preparations allowed specific reflex or peripheral effects to be examined under very different physiological conditions.

Positive and null findings coexisted

Rapid intravenous CBD in anesthetized rats caused brief reductions in heart rate and blood pressure consistent with a reflex response. The heart-rate response diminished markedly after repeat administration. In conscious rats, the tested CBD regimen did not significantly alter the measured cardiovascular parameters.

An isolated tissue result was another level of evidence

CBD also reduced contractile force in isolated atrial tissue. That ex vivo observation is distinct from a beneficial change in a living patient’s heart function. Similarly, pharmacological blockade supported selected receptor mechanisms without demonstrating a clinical hypertension treatment.

Why preparation and administration matter

Anesthetic state, intact reflexes, injection speed, strain and route can all change the response being tested. A transient reflex cannot establish sustained blood-pressure control from oral CBD. The study identifies multiple physiological actions for further investigation, while leaving human efficacy, appropriate dosing and long-term cardiovascular outcomes unresolved.

Saliva Cannabis Detection Windows Change With THC AND Versus OR a Metabolite

Requiring both THC and its metabolite to exceed a cutoff can produce a different saliva detection window from accepting either compound. A controlled human cannabis-smoking study demonstrated that difference, particularly among occasional smokers. The result concerns how a test defines a positive sample; it does not establish how long a…

A CB2 Knockout Experiment Did Not Test Whether Cannabis Causes Psychosis

A mouse experiment linked altered cannabinoid CB2 receptor function with methamphetamine-related behavioral responses. It did not administer cannabis or determine whether THC exposure caused a psychiatric disorder. The intervention was genetic receptor disruption Researchers studied mice with partial Cnr2 gene deletion and animals with deletion in a selected neuronal population….

A Prenatal Alcohol Study Linked Exposure to Lifetime Cannabis Use, Not Earlier Initiation

A longitudinal study associated maternal alcohol dose per drinking occasion during pregnancy with greater reported lifetime cannabis use in young adulthood. It did not find the same association with every cannabis-use measure, including age at first use. Exposure preceded the later reports The analysis involved 121 young adults from the…
