Home Accelerometry Did Not Confirm a Treatment-Specific Tremor Benefit in the Parkinson Trial

The trial’s home tremor measurements did not show a cannabinoid treatment advantage. Improvement within selected clinic tremor scores did not establish the same benefit across measurement methods.

The investigators used more than one approach

Clinic MDS-UPDRS tremor subscores were supplemented by an accelerometry-based assessment of rest tremor in clinic and at home. The latter measured features such as presence, amplitude and duration while participants performed specified movements with the opposite hand.

Within-group changes did not settle the controlled comparison

The active group improved on some clinic tremor subscores, while placebo showed improvement on others. The between-group comparisons did not establish a treatment effect. The in-home objective tremor measure likewise did not show an advantage of CBD/THC.

Measurement methods retain their own scope

A rating scale and an instrumented recording do not capture every aspect of tremor identically. Neither should be substituted silently for the other, and a favorable within-group subscore cannot override a negative controlled comparison. The short trial supplies evidence about this preparation under its protocol; it does not prove that every tremor in every person is unaffected. Reporting both measurement approaches avoids presenting a selective clinic change as independently confirmed objective efficacy.

CBN Served as the Internal Standard in a Postmortem THC Assay

The postmortem GC–MS method used cannabinol as an internal standard. CBN was a reference signal in this procedure, rather than a second reported measure of parent THC or a stable-isotope-labeled copy of it. Identify the reference compound Paknahad and colleagues described adding CBN internal standard during preparation of urine for…

The CBD Excreted-Dose Calculation Used Volume and Molecular Weight

The study’s percentage of dose excreted was a calculated quantity using urine volume, analyte concentration and metabolite molecular-weight adjustment. It was not simply a urine concentration expressed as a percentage. The calculation had several stages For each collection, the investigators combined measured urine volume and concentration to estimate analyte amount….
