Oral CBD Formulations Were Compared Across Small Participant Groups
The three oral CBD formulations were not all administered to every participant. Differences among capsule, syrup and Epidiolex groups therefore require a different interpretation from the study’s within-person route comparisons.
The formulation groups contained six people each
The eighteen completers received 100 mg oral CBD as one assigned formulation: capsule, syrup or Epidiolex. The principal dosing conditions were randomized within participants, but the three oral formulations were distributed among separate groups. Participant characteristics could therefore contribute to a comparison between formulations.
The statistical choices reflected that limit
For the summary pharmacokinetic parameters, the authors did not carry out inferential between-subject comparisons of oral formulation because of small group size and substantial variation. They separately described exploratory mixed-effects analyses. Those different analytic approaches should not be collapsed into a claim that every numerical formulation difference was a confirmed superiority finding.
Use the comparison the design supports
A higher observed urinary value in one small group is informative but does not by itself establish a universal formulation ranking. It also cannot be assumed to measure proportionate therapeutic benefit or systemic absorption in another person. The comparison is controlled human excretion research with a specified dose and collection schedule, not a crossover trial in which each person tested all three oral products.
