CBD’s Alcohol-Intake Findings in Mice Varied With Both Sex and Dose

In mouse binge-drinking experiments summarized in the review, lower repeated CBD doses reduced intake in males, while a higher dose reduced intake in both sexes. The findings did not support a simple claim that females were unresponsive.

The experiment used a defined drinking model

The review describes male and female C57BL/6J mice tested with the drinking-in-the-dark procedure. Repeated CBD at 15, 30 or 60 mg/kg reduced ethanol intake only in males. A higher tested dose of 90 mg/kg reduced intake under acute and repeated schedules in both males and females.

The comparison included an exposure dimension

A sex-related difference at one part of the tested dose range does not establish an absolute difference across all doses. The higher-dose finding qualifies such an interpretation. Conversely, a response in both groups at the higher dose does not show identical effect sizes, pharmacokinetics or tolerability. The supplied summary does not justify inventing those comparisons.

These were animal consumption findings

The injected doses and experimental access schedule do not provide a human CBD regimen for alcohol-use disorder. Changes in selected gene-expression measures accompanied some responses, but their association does not establish that they fully caused the intake change. A useful account preserves both sex and dose, identifies the drinking model and limits the conclusion to the measured behavior. It supplies a research question about response variation rather than a rule for treating men and women differently.

Late Sheep Fat Biopsies Supplied Residue Evidence Beyond the Plasma THC Curve

The sheep study measured THC in subcutaneous fat as well as plasma. Positive biopsies at selected later dates and subsequent nondetections did not identify an exact clearance day for every animal. Sheep THC Clearance and Distribution Estimates Depended on a Small Bioavailability Pilot

The sheep paper’s clearance and distribution estimates relied on an approximate oral-bioavailability value from a two-animal pilot. The numerical estimates should retain that assumption rather than being treated as independently established species constants. The pilot supplied a limited reference One sheep received intravenous THC and another oral THC. The paper…

Split Dosing Qualified the Very Late THC Peak Reported in Sheep

The sheep pharmacokinetic study’s late plasma THC peak followed a dose split into two administrations twelve hours apart.
